A 16-year-old girl has died following a crash on the A14 in Bury St Edmunds. 

Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway at about 1.30am on Monday to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a lorry. 

The teenager died at the scene, a spokesman for Suffolk police confirmed. 

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended

Both carriageways have since reopened. 

Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information, or who was driving in the area to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team at Bury St Edmunds quoting the reference number 37/20659/24.
