Suffolk police has referred itself to the police watchdog after a man admitted to murdering his wife.
Olubunmi Abodunde strangled and stamped on Taiwo Abodunde then beat her with a skateboard after a history of jealousy and suspicion that she was having affairs, Ipswich Crown Court was told on Wednesday.
The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to murder after he initially denied the charge.
Suffolk police has since referred itself Independent Office for Police Conduct.
A spokesman for the force said: "As is standard procedure, a referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, due to previous police contact at the address.
"The IOPC is investigating the previous police contact."
Police officers arrived at the property at 9.55am, where they discovered the body of Mrs Abodunde.
On November 27 last year, the day before the killing, the police were again called and Mrs Abodunde had an injury to her lip.
Abodunde was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds police station.
He was later released and given bail conditions ordering him not to return to the family home in Exning Road or contact his wife.
Mrs Abodunde was found dead on November 28 last year.
