A pub is celebrating a prestigious award win only a few months after new landlords took over the business.

Julian White and Julian Swainson became joint managers of the Lidgate Star near Newmarket in December last year.

It followed a serious fire which broke out at the pub in the afternoon of February 7 last year.

Six fire crews were sent to the fire on the first floor of the property following reports of smoke coming from the roof of the building.

The pub was closed for a number of days before reopening on March 2.

The Lidgate Star has now been recognised with a prestigious award win.

Simon Plume, the social secretary for West Suffolk and Borders Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), awarded the landlords with pub of the season.

Speaking about the award win, the landlords said: "We are delighted to have won the CAMRA pub of the season award,"

"Thanks to all our lovely customers and the breweries that supply us."

Back in February the award was won by Roughacre Taproom, part of Roughacre Brewery at Clare Hall Barns.
