Drivers will be left facing a 70-mile diversion route while the A12 is closed this week.
A stretch of the road will be closed between Blythburgh and Darsham, near Southwold, over nights from Monday to Friday.
A road closure will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 5am while Suffolk Highways carries out works.
According to the Suffolk County Council website, the official diversion route is 70 miles long.
The diversion route is so long as it takes drivers along A roads.
This is because some vehicles like HGVs cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
The same stretch of road was closed last month while Suffolk Highways carried out urgent works.
This is the last phase of the planned works in the area.
The diversion route will take drivers along the A1120, A140, A143, A145, A12 and vice versa.
