The home of a shrinking grandpa has gone on the market for nearly £500,000.

Sea Horse Cottage, in Crabbe Street, Aldeburgh, is the home of Grandpa in BBC children’s comedy series ‘Grandpa in My Pocket’, and airs on their pre-school channel CBeebies.

The one-bedroom cottage is up for sale with estate agents Jennie Jones for £475,000.

Grandpa, played by James Bolam, owns a shrinking cap, which allows him to shrink to a height of four or five inches tall and get up to all sorts of mischief with his grandson, Jason Mason, played by Jay Ruckley.

The BBC say the programme “explores the hugely important relationship between grandchildren and grandparents by turning it on its head.”

The programme is also filmed further up the Suffolk coast in Walberswick and Southwold, and is set in the fictional location of Sunnysands.

A spokesman for the estate agents said: “It’s a children’s dream.

“I have children come in and ask for information on the property. They love it.

“It’s so central.

“It’s opposite the boating pond, and the beach, which is only a stones throw away.”

The cottage overlooks Moot Green, and the only bedroom in the property comes attached to a balcony that looks onto the North Sea.

The first floor also has a bathroom, and from the hall there are differing views of the green, as well as Moot Hall.

The ground floor features a shower room, open-plan living room and a kitchen/breakfast room.

The property also has a courtyard garden, with a brick shed, and a timber sun deck at the front.

Commenting on the size of the property the spokesman said: “You don’t expect it to be as big as it is. People do need to have a look at it.

“It’s got a nice large dining room and kitchen.

“It’s one of those nice little properties.”

Speaking on the interest of the property, the spokesman added: “It’s the children who spot it, purely because of ‘Grandpa in My Pocket’.

“They have their pictures taken outside the house and then come in and ask us for information on it.
