A fire in a bedroom in a home in Lowestoft was put out last night.

Crews from the town were called to Ashtree Gardens just after 9.35pm to reports of a house fire.

On arrival a small fire was found in a first floor bedroom. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel.

The fire was under control by around 9.50pm.

Police have arrested a 66-year-old man in connection with an incident that caused armed officers to swoop on Ipswich town centre tonight.
