Market Weston: Fire crews rescue horse from ditch

FIRE crews were called to rescue a horse stuck in a ditch in Market Weston this morning.

Crews from Bury and Thetford were called at 9.53am to the incident in Hepworth Road, Market Weston.

Firefighters used technical rescue equipment to release the animal and the incident was brought under control by noon.

The horse was left in the care of its owner and a vet.

The Orwell Bridge remains open this morning but the strongest winds are expected after 8am.

One lane of the A12 was closed to traffic this morning, causing lengthy delays, due to a collision and oil spillage near Colchester.
