Police in Newmarket are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed of her mobile phone in the town.

It happened between 8.20am and 8.40pm yesterday at the junction of New Cheveley Road and Barry Lynham Drive.

As the woman, who is in her 30s, approached the junction a man approached her from the opposite direction and demanded her mobile.

Feeling intimidated by the man, she threw her phone at him and he ran off.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have information. They should call Pc Tom Darville at Bury St Edmunds Police on 101.
