A serious sex assault happened in Pykenham Way.

Police are investigating reports of a sexual assault in Pykenham Way, Hadleigh.

Officers were contacted at 8.35pm yesterday by ambulance crews who were concerned for a distressed female.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said their investigations were still in the early stages and the victim was still in their care.

A crime scene has been set up on Pykenham Way while investigations are underway.

County councillor for the Hadleigh ward, Brian Riley said it was shocking to hear this had happened in Hadleigh, which was usually a very safe and pleasant place to live.

“It extremely shocking this has happened, it is shocking wherever it happens because it’s not behaviour one expects in the society we live in”, Mr Riley said.

“We hope the lady recovers quickly from her trauma.”

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information that could help police should contact 101.
