They met at a church Christmas party and “it was love at first sight”.
Decades later, Noel and Gladys Reeve have celebrated their blue sapphire wedding anniversary, marking 65 years of matrimony.
The couple, who used to cycle everywhere together on a tandem, have lived in Suffolk all their lives.
Mr Reeve, 89, was a carpenter for Davidson’s in Fressingfield, a minister at Otley Baptist Chapel and then caretaker at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham for 16 years.
They retired to Wickham Market in 1990, where Mr Reeve is said to be well known for his sense of humour and jokes with the village shopkeepers.
The couple have two married daughters, Sandra and Angela, and one granddaughter, Rebekah, 18.
When asked for the key to a successful marriage, they replied: “We laugh a lot have and have a strong faith that has been the basis for the many years together.
