A man has died after being struck by a train near Wrabness Station this morning.
British Transport Police were called at 10.42am and were informed that the man had been hit on a stretch of track near the Copperas Wood crossing.
Emergency services including Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance service attended the scene together with a Network Rail helicopter. The incident, which is not being treated as suspcious, caused rail lines running both ways to be blocked - leading to the service between Manningtree and Harwich being suspended.
British Transport Police handed over control of the line to Network Rail at 11.37am and normal train services were resumed at around 1pm.
A British Transport Police spokesman said a file was being prepared for the Coroner.
