Hayes stopped three Gateshead spot-kicks but his side were beaten 5-4, with the game ending 2-2 after extra-time.
The 25-year-old joined the Moors in December, making 32 appearances during his impressive stint in the West Midlands. He is out of contract with Town this summer, having spent the last two seasons as the fourth-choice 'keeper.
