David Beckham has backed Theo Walcott to bounce back stronger after the Arsenal youngster was one of seven players excluded from Fabio Capello’s 23-man squad.
Four years ago Walcott was the surprise inclusion in Sven Goran Erikkson’s squad at the tender age of 17 but his omission from this years tournament comes as a bigger surprise to a number of fans.
Beckham himself is no stranger to adversity after his dismissal against Argentina in France 12 years ago but the former England captain was the catalyst in leading England into the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals.
According to the Daily Express, Beckham told Walcott: “Keep your chin up, you’ve got a great talent and you will come back and be stronger in the future.”
