NEWLY-relegated Blackpool have released an entire team of players as they prepare for life in the Championship.

But the Seasiders have activated a clause in Charlie Adam’s contract which in theory gives him another 12 months at Bloomfield Road, but in reality means the Scotland midfielder will be sold for a high fee.

In addition to their prize asset, Blackpool have taken out 12-month options on former Ipswich Town attacker Billy Clarke, Keith Southern, Neal Eardley, Ian Evatt, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Louis Almond.

And they have offered new contracts to goalkeeper Matt Gilks, left-back Stephen Crainey, sought-after midfielder David Vaughan, striker Brett Ormerod and youngsters Mark Halstead and Ash Eastham.

But the club have confirmed a total of 11 players have been released. They are goalkeepers Richard Kingson and Paul Rachubka, Marlon Harewood, Andy Reid, Rob Edwards, Danny Coid, Malaury Martin, Jason Euell, David Carney, Salaheddine Sbai and Ishmel Demontagnac.
