Woking 1 Braintree Town 4
BRAINTREE Town boss Alan Devonshire hailed his side’s terrific performance after their demolition of hosts Woking in a one-sided Blue Square Premier fixture.
The Iron were in irresistible form as a brace from debutant Dan Holman, a wonder strike from Nicky Symons, and an own goal from Cards defender Mike Cestor secured a 4-1 win in Surrey.
Ex-Histon striker Holman netted the first and fourth goals, both quality strikes from long-range, while Symons netted the third from the half-way line on 54 minutes, just three minutes after Cestor had diverted into his own net from Danny Sparkes’ cross.
Devonshire enthused: “This was a great result for us, after a disappointing last 20 minutes against Newport (2-1 defeat on Saturday).
“We were down after that game, but this has given us a big lift. We fully deserved it, and we scored some cracking goals.”
