BRAINTREE TOWN’S re-arranged FA Cup First Round tie at home to Tranmere Rovers WILL be aired on national television, it has been announced.

The game, scheduled to be played yesterday before rain postponed the fixture which was due to be shown on ITV 1, will be televised on ITV 4, next Tuesday (November 13), with the game kicking off at 7.45pm.

Had the TV company chosen not to televised the re-scheduled game, Iron would have missed out on a lucrative 63,000. It was the second time in eight days a game at Cressing Road had been lost to the weather, Iron’s game at home to Wrexham on October 27 also biting the dust, because of a waterlogged pitch.

“We had an inkling that we were in with a shout of TV coverage again and we are delighted now that has been confirmed,” said club chairman Lee Harding.

“We will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast between now and next Tuesday, they say it comes in threes, and we have not had much luck recently.”
