WHAT a cracker of a pucture. It's from 60 years ago and features Walton United circa 1948.

Harry Lyon, the club captain in this picture, sent the photo in to us, and he takes up the story.

“I was a member of Walton United for 65 years, as a player, on the management side, and finally retiring as president.

“Now I am a vice-president of Achilles, in Ipswich.”

This photograph is taken at Dellwood Avenue, outside the pavilion where Felixstowe & Walton now play. In 1948 Walton were playing in the Ipswich and District League.

A big thanks to Harry for sending this in and we will return the photograph this week.

If so, send it in, with a few words to: Mike Bacon, Green'Un Gold, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich IP4 1AN.

Or scan a photograph in and send a jpeg to me mike.bacon@archant.co.uk with a few words.
