Manchester United’s top summer transfer target is Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil, according to reports in Caught Offside.

The German international is on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar as he looks for a long term replacement for 37-year-old Paul Scholes.

Ozil, 23, has proved he can play at the highest level, scoring seven goals this season to help elevate the Spanish club to the top of La Liga ahead of Barcelona.

Ferguson has been linked with a number of names in the past few days, including Tottenham’s Luka Modric yesterday.

Didier Drogba is set to be reunited with Nicolas Anelka in the summer as Shanghai Shenhua prepare a deal for the Chelsea striker.

The Chinese club, who are lead by player-manager Anelka, are set to offer the Ivorian a 6.7m-a-year deal to convince the forward to leave Stamford Bridge, the Daily Mail reports.

The 34-year-old will be offered a two year deal, and will turn down the Blues’ offer of a 12-month contract extension, to join his former strike partner.

Frank Lampard could also be another big name to leave the London club this summer, writes the Daily Express.

With the club looking to reduce the average age of their squad, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain may act upon their long-standing interest in the England midfielder.

33-year-old Lampard has been a regular fixture in the Blue’s side for over a decade, having made 372 league appearances and scoring 126 goals.

Arsenal are said to be in the hunt for Montpellier’s captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, the Daily Mirror reports.

Arsene Wenger is tracking the versatile 22-year-old who is valued at 7m.

Yanga-Mbiwa, who wants to ply his trade in English football, is reported to only have one year left on his current deal.

Martin O’Neil wants to sign Gabriel Agbonlahor to spearhead the Sunderland attack next season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old played under O’Neil at Aston Villa and the Black Cats boss is keen to add to his frontline, with Nicklas Bendtner’s loan from Arsenal coming to an end, and Asamoah Gyan unlikely to return from his loan at UAE’s Al-Ain.

However, it is believed Villa want to hold out for at least 12m for the forward, who came through the youth set-up as a youngster at the club.

Agbonlahor, who is acting captain while Stiliyan Petrov receives treatment for leukaemia, has netted six goals in 32 appearances this season.

Liverpool and Tottenham are looking to sign Wigan’s Victor Moses, the Metro understands.

Moses, who has played a key role in Wigan’s recent good form, was to be offered a contact extension to stay at the DW Stadium.

However, the 21-year-old’s agent Tony Finnigan says the former Crystal Palace man will not renew his contract, which is due to expire at the end of next season.
