Suffolk’s pantomime season is almost upon us, but which of the county’s festive treats will you see this year?

Mad-cap fun, catchy songs and crazy costumes - a trip to the panto is the perfect way to embrace the festive spirit. But have you booked your tickets yet? Suffolk’s theatres are pulling out all the stops and there is a great selection of fun, festive pantomimes throughout the county. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds

December 2 – January 15. Tickets: Adults from £16.50 (Children and Senior Citizens £10.50)

A traditional family pantomime written by Chris Hannon, directed by Karen Simpson. A journey of enchantment and magic set in Beastly St Edmunds. Who is the beast hiding in the shadows? Will Beauty overcome her fears? Plenty of music, fun and laughter in a story to warm your heart.

SINBAD Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich

November 24 – January 28. Tickets: From £10

A brand new adaptation of the adventures of Sinbad, written by Peter Rowe, bursting with music, mayhem and magic. Sinbad, determined to win the hand of the beautiful Princess Pearl, sets sail aboard the Saucy Sausage on his most dangerous voyage yet – past the Island of the Sirens, and the Plughole of Poseidon to the paradise of Nirvana itself! But can he save the Princess from the clutches of the evil sorcerer, Sinistro?

TREASURE ISLAND, The Quay Theatre, Sudbury

December 16 – January 1. Tickets: Adults £12, Children £9

Cast off for Christmas with a generous helping of madness and running about from the Sudbury Dramatic Society. With stowaways, pirates, treasure and ships, this story is full of fun and features the oddest Long John Silver you have ever seen and some useful cooking tips for roasting the Christmas parrot!

SLEEPING BEAUTY, Ipswich Regent Theatre

December 17 – January 2. Tickets: From £14

Enchanted Entertainment return to Ipswich with their magical pantomime complete with 3D projection, a live band, heaps of fun and laughter and plenty of audience participation. International soul legend Sheila Ferguson stars as the Wicked Fairy and Any Dream Will Do runner-up Keith jack plays the Prince.

ROBIN HOOD, Haverhill Arts Centre

December 20 – December 30. Tickets: From £12

Join That’s Entertainment Productions for their Christmas panto Robin Hood which sees the wicked Sheriff ruling over the people and collecting taxes to pay for his own evil plans to take the English crown. We need a hero – but will Robin Hood win the heart of Maid Marian, rescue the babes, and win the day? Stars Sue Hodge (Allo Allo).

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, The Marina Theatre, Lowestoft

Fun, laughter, songs, silliness and bucket loads of audience participation in this enchanting tale.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, The Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft

December 14 – December 24. Tickets: From £7

A brand new pantomime written especially for The Seagull Theatre. Join Jack Trott and friends for a family-friendly, laugh-a-minute ride through the Suffolk countryside and the clouds above.

ALADDIN, Beccles Public Hall

December 23 – January 1. Tickets: Adults £11.50 (Concessions available)

Beccles first proffesional pantomime features stunning scenery, special effects, colourful costumes and is packed full of slapstick, song and laughter. A giant adventure with some surprises along the way.

DICK WHITTINGTON, Henley Community Centre

SINBAD AND THE MAGICAL MYSTERY, Stowmarket Regal Theatre

A new type of hero, a feisty princess, a sorcerer who’s up to no good and a troop of, well… Teletubbies! What can it all mean? Fun and frolics a-plenty in this festive show from the Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society, with plenty of chances to cheer and boo in true family panto fashion.

CINDERELLA, Spa Pavillion, Felixstowe

December 19 – January 3. Tickets: Adults from £13.50 (Concessions available)

Meet the loveable Buttons, the Ugly Sisters, Evil Stepmother and of course Cinderella in this festive treat from the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company. Full of all the usual pantomime ingredients along with a few new twists.

ROBIN HOOD, The Fisher Theatre, Bungay

December 19 – January 2. Tickets: From £9

Follow the exciting escapades of Robin Hood and his merry men in this madcap, medieval romp from Immersion Theatre. Robin fights to restore justice for the people of Sherwood, win the heart of Maid Marion and rid the land of the avaricious Sherriff of Nottingham once and for all.
