An army team has carried out a controlled explosion in Bury St Edmunds today.
Police were first called to Dobbies garden centre in Rougham Road at 8am on Tuesday by a member of the public after reports of a suspected unexploded device.
The army team arrived from Colchester at 10.15am.
Dobbies Garden Centre was evacuated as the army investigated the device.
At about 12.15pm, the army team carried out a controlled explosion of the device after it was moved to a safe location.
In an update at about 3.30pm, it is believed the device was a dummy tank shell used for wartime training.
It was removed to a nearby field where the explosion was carried out.
The device had been unearthed from a stream bed during a land survey for a new housing development.
