The Lion Brasserie, East Bergholt

A very pretty country pub, moments from beautiful National Trust Flatford. Inside, no expense has been spared in renovating The Lion, which has a feminine touch – think Country Living Magazine.

Head chef Ashley has devised a Valentine’s menu, available by pre-order only from February 13 to 15.

It’s £75 per person – including a bottle of pink prosecco per couple.

Begin with a selection of locally cured meats, pickles and homemade bread. Follow with surf ‘n’ turf of Suffolk Red Poll rump steak with garlic butter king prawns, roasted vine tomatoes, garlic butter, the pub’s famous hand cut chips, rocket and Parmesan salad.

And finish with a trio of chocolate. Petit fours follow. And there’s a single red rose to take home too - the cherry on top.

The Brewers, Rattlesden

Usually closed on a Monday, The Brewers is opening specially on February 14 for lovers! Its £50 per person with optional wine pairings £30 per person.

The menu includes Champagne on arrival, followed by oyster with dill and cucumber, partridge with salsify, halibut with pickled cockles and Champagne, gin and tonic rhubarb and custard mille feuille, and chocolates made by chef patron Sam Sturman.

The View, All Saints, Fornham St Genvieve

A rising star on the Suffolk dining scene, the kitchen has been mightily impressing with its small plate dining, but goes back to a classic a la carte menu for Valentine’s. You’ll get snacks (including panko fried oyster with dulse), starters include steak tartare with soy, sesame and red chicory, lobster features on the main course selection with preserved lemon and confit garlic butter, and finish with passion fruit, coconut and mango petit gateau. Petit fours are also included in the menu, which is £70 per person.

The Unruly Pig

The pig has too many awards to mention – so you know you’re onto a winner if you manage to clinch a table here. Maybe one of the booths, tucked away together. The Valentine’s a la carte menu is £65. Or choose the Be Unruly tasting menu at £85 per person for Valentine’s. It includes snacks, aged beef tartare with smoked eel, lovage and beetroot, rabbit agnolotti, sole, venison Wellington, and custard tart with rhubarb, pistachio and blood orange. Finish with coffee and handmade petit fours.

The Hog Hotel, Pakefield

The hotel was joined by new chef Terry Balme last summer, who’s been making quite an impression with his food. Terry’s Valentine’s menu is £50 per person- that includes a cocktail each and a bottle of wine to share. After an amuse bouche, the menu’s offerings range from pan-seared scallops with coconut and curry broth, to confit Gressingham duck leg ballotine with pan-roasted breast, glazed with Pakefield honey, or pan-fried North Sea cod fillet with potato and leek terrine, courgetti and chicken butter sauce. Round off dinner with a chocolate sharing dessert.

3 Kings, Fornham

Join the foodie pub on Saturday, February 12, for a three course Valentine’s dinner at £45 per person.

Begin with an anti pasti sharing platter, move on to surf and turf to share (half a lobster, fillet steak, Parmesan chips, vine tomatoes, garlic butter and chimichurri), and delight in the cookies and cream sharing dessert. This combines chocolate ice cream, caramel sauce, shortbread, cookies, biscotti, Chantilly cream and fresh fruit.

The Lakes, Stoke By Nayland Resort

Now that executive chef Alan Paton is back, he’s able to bring his signature quirk and fun to the Valentine’s menu in the new Lakes restaurant. And he’s clearly had fun making up names for all the dishes!

Available from February 11 to 14 and costing £40 per person for three courses with chocolates and coffee, you could begin with the sharer of Don’t Go Bacon My Heart, I Couldn’t If I Fried – Alan's special of bacon and eggs.

The main course sharer, Heart to Heart, is a meat feast of ribeye steak, crispy chicken wings, duck in soy and yuzu, pork ribs, fried mac and cheese, grilled marrow bone and chips.

If that isn’t ‘hearty’ enough for you, finish on a sweet note with We Chilled On Sundae.

The Bildeston Crown

One of Suffolk’s most celebrated restaurants has a special Valentine’s menu, available only on February 14, and priced at £49 per person.

Share a platter of cured meats, cheeses, or perhaps oysters three ways before moving on to a sharer of whole guinea fowl with traditional garnishes and a wild mushroom cream sauce. Then you have to finish your night with the delectable-sounding trio of chocolate. A cocoa-fest of white chocolate and Baileys crème brulee, dark chocolate and hazelnut torte, and milk chocolate milkshake with doughnuts.

Ravenwood Hall, Rougham

On February 14 you can delight in all the fun of the fairground. The Valentine’s Day menu (£55 per person) includes a sharing dessert of candyfloss parfait, lemon meringue ice cream, popcorn brittle, toffee apple and cinnamon doughnuts.

Work your way up to the pud with sharers that include gooey baked camembert, and a rump of Suffolk lamb with carrot and potato rosti, buttered spinach and minted Yorkshire puddings.

The Food Hub, Kenton

Something a little bit left field. The cookery school is hosting a full day (10am to 3pm) course for couples where you can cook a three-course meal with your lover. A light lunch and refreshments are included, as are all the ingredients. It’s £110 per person
