AN Iraqi doctor who trained in the region has been found guilty of plotting to murder hundreds of innocent people in car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.
Bilal Abdulla, 29, who worked for the NHS and studied in Cambridge, was convicted of conspiracy to murder and to cause explosions at Woolwich Crown Court.
A second defendant, Jordanian NHS neurologist Mohammed Asha, 28, was acquitted of the same charges.
Abdulla, an Islamic extremist, drove one of two Mercedes cars loaded with gas cylinders, petrol and nails into central London in June last year.
Targeted at late-night revellers, the bombs failed to detonate.
Just over a day later a Jeep loaded with a similar deadly cargo was crashed into Glasgow Airport in a suicide attack.
