THOUSANDS of rail commuters are facing severe delays this evening on the London to Norwich line after a fatality at Harold Wood station.
The 16.17 train from London Liverpool Street to Witham struck a person at Harold Wood Station near Romford in London.
All lines have now re-opened and a spokesman for National Express East Anglia said services were beginning to run as normal.
“There are still delays at the moment but hopefully now and during the rest of the evening services should start to get back to normal,” he said. “We are finding the majority of trains starting now will be leaving at the right time and those now leaving are unlikely to face delays on route.”
The first two tracks were re-opened at about 5pm and the final tracks were re-opened about an hour later after emergency services on the scene gave the go-ahead.
