FIVE police officers have been disciplined following an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct in the bar of a Suffolk police station.

The inquiry was launched in November last year after a series of incidents were alleged to have taken place both inside and outside Ipswich police station on Friday November 23 2007.

The EADT has learned that disciplinary action has now been taken against a further two police officers after it emerged three other officers had faced action in September.

Police chiefs immediately referred the incidents to the professional standards department which conducted the investigation.

It is believed one of the alleged incidents took place outside the station and involved a police community support officer and a male officer.

As a result of the investigation last year, an alcohol ban was put in place at the station, on Civic Drive, which is a social club used by officers after work.

The ban was lifted in April after the professional standards department at Suffolk police concluded their inquiries.

Suffolk Constabulary has said they cannot discuss details of the incidents or make any further comments because no criminal charges were brought against the police officers.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “The investigation by the Suffolk Constabulary's professional standards department into the allegations of misconduct at the police bar in Ipswich on the evening of Friday November 23 2007 has now been completed. Internal disciplinary action has been taken against five officers. We will not discuss the nature of the incidents or issue further comments as no criminal charges were brought.”
