COOL-headed staff at a Suffolk post office sent a would-be robber packing - despite his claims he was armed.
The incident happened in High Street, Brandon between 10.10am and 10.20am on Friday.
A spokeswoman for the police said the man came into the shop and passed a note to staff. The note said he had a gun and wanted money.
But the staff refused to give him any cash and he ran out of the store.
Nobody was injured and at no time was any weapon seen or used, the spokeswoman said.
The man was white, between 5ft 1in and 5ft 5in tall, aged between 20 and 42 years old, of stocky build with a round face, dark eyes, a large nose and stubble which was greying.
He wore a white zipped hooded fleece with the hood up and jeans.
Anybody with information about the incident should call DC Mark Robinson at Mildenhall CID on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
