TOMMY Miller is getting back to his best and deserving of a Scotland call up according to Bryan Klug.
The Ipswich Town first team coach knows George Burley is well aware of Miller who recently told the EADT how he would love to get the call from his former boss.
Klug said: “George doesn't need me to tell him about Tommy because he knows him as well as anyone.
“At the top of his game Tommy is a very, very good player and he is approaching that again now.
“George could do a lot worse than select him because Tommy is a good bet.”
Manchester United's Darren Fletcher, along with Celtic's Scott Brown, Paul Hartley, Shaun Maloney and Barry Robson, are firm picks while Rangers' Peter Thompson was called up but withdrew, along with Kris Commons.
Miller has had to fight for a place in Town's midfielder with Owen Garvan, David Norris, Iván Campo and Veliche Shumulikoski who represents Scotland's World Cup qualifying opponents Macedonia.
Burley originally signed Miller from Hartlepool for nearly £1m in 2001 and he also played for former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy who signed him for Sunderland where he got some more Premier League experience.
Current Town boss Jim Magilton brought him back to Ipswich and the midfielder has been working on getting back in among the goals.
Klug has also backed former Colchester United striker Chris Iwelumo to get over his incredible miss against Norway when all he had to do was knock in from two yards to give the Scots victory but completely miscued and missed the target.
Klug said: “It is an occupational hazard and as soon as he knocks the next one in people will forget that miss. It is the life of a striker just as we have experienced here at Ipswich with Richard Wright who has been a hero in many games but is made out to be a villain if he drops one - that is just how football is.
“Chris is a top player who doesn't lack confidence and has done really well to get to the Scotland squad and I'm sure he will get over this quickly.”
The Wolves striker was making his debut for Scotland after getting his first call up from Burley after impressing in the Championship scoring stakes.
