SEVEN fire crews were sent to a major blaze in a factory warehouse in Chelmsford which took more than five hours to put out.
The blaze started in the unit in Victoria Road at around 11pm last night and crews from Great Baddow, Colchester, Harlow, Ingatestone, Witham and Chelmsford were sent to the scene.
Fire had spread through the ground and first floor of the three storey building and the rest was badly smoke logged.
An emergency team from energy suppliers EDF Energy were also sent out as problems with internal wiring hindered the fire fighting efforts.
Police and Essex fire service will be carrying out a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze.
