AN elderly woman was left shocked after she discovered an intruder standing in her house wearing a Stetson-style hat looking for a man called “Steve”.

AN elderly woman was left shocked after she discovered an intruder standing in her house wearing a Stetson-style hat looking for a man called “Steve”.

The incident happened at a house in The Links, Flempton, near Bury St Edmunds, between 12.45pm and 1.15pm on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman told the elderly lady discovered the man in her house and, when she confronted him, he said he was looking for somebody called Steve and apologized to her.

He made a retreat out of her front door and walked off towards Bury.

She later discovered her belongings had been searched through but nothing had been stolen.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, 5ft 9in tall and wore a brown or black cowboy style hat and a long dark coat.
