DANNY Haynes will today face the wrath of boss Jim Magilton after a petulant outburst in Belfast last night.
Haynes came very close to being sent home in disgrace after the referee in Town's 4-1 win at Donegal Celtic effectively sent him off.
Magilton replaced Haynes with Chris Casement at the official's suggestion after the Town striker twice lashed out at Celtic's Sean Armstrong.
Magilton, taking his team to heart of west Belfast, was furious with Haynes who he felt had let everyone down wanted to wait until this morning to calm down before dealing with the miscreant.
He said: “Danny lost his head and that is totally unacceptable. I don't care what level you are at it is not on. He showed total disrespect not just to us, but the lad involved and the referee, who did very well, and I won't stand for that.”
Haynes reacted petulantly after losing one challenge and kicked the ball away.
Moments later he flared up again and the referee walked him to the dug out and spoke to the Town bench and Haynes went off, his behaviour was compounded by where he had reacted and the Blues' poor first half showing in front of the manager's family and friends.
Magilton said: “This is where I was born and bred and we were treated very, very well, as I thought we would be.
“It is fantastic to be back and it was an opportunity for me to show off my team, although after 45 minutes I wanted the ground to open up.
“We got better in the second half and I was pleased with what we did in the end.”
Two goals from Alan Quinn, one from Owen Garvan and a David Munster own goal spared their blushes with James Lavery scoring for Donegal and Magilton was pleased with the way his former Sheffield Wednesday team mate Quinn, who also scored twice in the 7-0 win at Cliftonville finished.
He added: “Alan has looked bright when he has come on. He has worked hard in training and we will try to get him a few more minutes at Glentoran on Saturday.”
