ANY hopes Ipswich have that Barnsley will be suffering an FA Cup hangover when they visit Oakwell tomorrow have been dashed by Tykes boss Simon Davey.

While the south Yorkshire side have reached Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in 96-years after amazing wins at Liverpool and now Chelsea at home, the Tykes could still get dragged into the drop zone and go from heroes to zero within 72 hours.

While the Tykes celebrations went long into the night following Kayode Odejayi's 66th-minute winner at Oakwell, Davey has told his players they must not allow Wembley to distract them in the league, starting with Ipswich tomorrow night.

He said: “I hope this is the start of something big.

“If these players can beat Liverpool away and Chelsea at home, why shouldn't we be further up the table?

"I'll say to the players that if they can beat Chelsea, then they can beat Ipswich, but as we've already seen, football has a habit of kicking you when you are at the top.

"At Anfield three weeks ago after we had beaten Liverpool I said I hoped that result would be the catalyst for us to pick up better results in the league.

"But we then lost one and drew three in the league, which is not great form, and now we've an important game on Tuesday.

"I know I'll be back down to earth because while we're in the semi-final, which is going to be a fantastic day for all concerned, we need more league points.”

Just as the weekend's results saw Town slip to eighth place, results tomorrow night going their way would see the Blues move up to fifth but first they have to beat Barnsley.

While Town are looking for their first win in four games Blues boss Jim Magilton has been on the hunt for a loan striker and defender.

The Sunday papers have linked him with Jason Scotland at Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday left back Tommy Spurr, although are more likely to be summer targets rather than short-term loanees.

Town have agreed to allow Gary Roberts to stay on loan at Crewe for at least another month but first he needs to prove his fitness after returning to Portman Road for treatment on an Achilles problem.

While Davey insists the Tykes will be focusing on the Blues' visit, they will be glues to the BBC at 1.25pm today as the draw for the semi-finals is made with fellow Championship sides Cardiff and West Brom.

In the pot alongside with the only Premiership side Portsmouth who knocked Town out of the competition in the third round.
