ROADS in Suffolk have been hit by severe flooding - with one car almost submerged on a road near Stowmarket.
It is understood there are a number of flooded roads, with one of the worst areas Wash Lane at Combs.
Police and paramedics were called to an incident there at about 10.30am today when a car became stuck in deep water in a dip in the road.
It had been reported that people were trapped in the vehicle but were freed by passers by. As the water rose, the car was almost completely submerged.
Rivers are understood to be swollen throughout the area, and the Environment Agency has said a number of flood warnings in place.
They include: Thorpeness Hundred River from Knodishall to Aldringham; River Box from Boxford to Thorrington Street.
There are also flood watches in force on the Rattlesden River and River Gipping; River Bure and Spixworth Beck; River Colne; River Gipping downstream of Needham Market; River Stour from Sudbury; Rivers Box and Brett; Rivers Deben and Lark; and all Suffolk Coastal rivers.
It is believed areas around Bildeston, Chelsworth and Hadleigh are particularly badly affected.
