POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 29-year-old man handed over cash and credit cards to a gang of three men - one of whom threatened him with a knife.
The robbery happened at 12.30am today in an alleyway between Avon Way and Luger Close, Colchester.
A 29-year-old local man was walking along when he was approached by three men - one of whom barged into him and pulled out a small knife and demanded money.
The victim - who is not believed to have been hurt - handed over his wallet which contained cash and various credit cards.
A spokeswoman for Essex Police said all three men were described as white and aged in their mid 20s.
The first is believed to have been 6ft tall, with a small goatee beard and both ears pierced with hoop earrings and was wearing a dark coloured beanie hat and a dark padded jacket with cream patterns on the front.
The second man is described as 5ft10in tall, with shaved hair, of medium build and wearing a blue Adidas hooded top with green stripes down the side and white and grey trainers.
The third man was also around 5ft10in and had short dark hair and wore a dark coat and trousers.
