IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton is prepared to resurrect the career of Gary Roberts.

Out of favour for the last few weeks but back in the squad for the visit to Blackpool today, the 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Portman Road.

Roberts hit the Coca-Cola Championship running after completing a full transfer to Ipswich last January from Accrington.

But, after a summer disrupted by injury, he has failed to sparkle this campaign despite scoring in the opening day 4-1 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday.

Magilton has confirmed that he has not lost faith in the left-sided player - and sees similarities in the Sito Castro scenario.

“I have been impressed by Gary's attitude and he did well in our last reserve game against Peterborough,” said Magilton.

“He has been working on a one-on-one basis with our fitness coach Simon Thadani and I have really liked what I have seen.

“Sito has worked hard and has come back into the side, and we will be looking to Gary to do the same.

“I can understand Gary being affected by having his pre-season interrupted as this is where you lay your foundations for the season.

“Sylvain Legwinski has had a rather slow start to the campaign for the same reason.

“And it happened to me when I was playing. It is very frustrating and it was not until after Christmas that I caught up with the rest of the squad.”

Danny Haynes travelled with the Town party that flew from Stansted to Blackpool Airport yesterday despite being charged with motoring offences yesterday.

TOWN have a home Pontin's Holidays Combination game on Monday when they entertain MK Dons at their Playford Road training ground with a 2pm kick-off.

A host of scouts are likely to be in attendance with the Blues having a number of players they have available for loan - or perhaps sale during the transfer window. Ipswich are top of the table and unbeaten.
