DAVID Wright today reflected on the six-goal annihilation of Bristol City and said: “We know we can get a lot better.”

The 27-year-old right back typified the flair in Jim Magilton's Ipswich Town side when he stormed up field to send in a soaring header that helped the Blues move back into a Coca-Cola Championship play-off position.

They have now won 11 straight games at Portman Road, and Saturday's opponents left Suffolk shocked by the power and artistry of Town's display.

With the Ipswich squad on a fully deserved two-day break at the luxurious Whittlebury Hall Hotel in Northamptonshire, Wright said: “We know - and the manager knows - we are good enough to make an impression.

“We must keep our home form going, and keep believing.

“We are getting better, we are improving.

“But there is someway to go. We know we can get a lot better.

“In the gaffer, Bryan Klug and Steve Foley we have three superb people at the helm.”

Ipswich scored six superb goals with Bradley Orr being the 100th player to be sent off against the Blues when he brought down Danny Haynes in the 47th minute.

Town have a fortnight break before they travel to Cardiff on Saturday week when they will try to win on their travels for the first time in 13 matches.

“It is starting to come away from home,” added Wright.

“Tuesday's referee at Sheffield United telephoned the gaffer to apologise for the penalty decision.

“This is the way things are going for us, and we all wanted to put that 3-1 defeat behind us.”

Referring to his 15th minute goal, Wright said: “The manager gives me a licence to get into the box and as I was up there anyway I went further forward.

“It was a perfect cross from Alan Lee, and a great feeling when the ball hit net.

“It is up there high in my list of infrequent goals, but not my best, which was a 30-yarder for Crewe against West Brom.

“When I played at Portman Road for Crewe Ipswich fans proved that they know their football, and they are giving us great backing.”

The Wright family enjoyed a Saturday night meal with hat-trick hero Jon Walters' family.

“Jon is a top man. We are close and he works his socks off to help me and the team on the right side.

“We are playing some golf and relaxing with the spa etc and taking our minds off football for a couple of days.”
