IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton revealed that he has had a word with striker Pablo Counago to cut out his “card- waving” antics to the referee.
“I had a word at the interval on Saturday,” said Magilton. “It is not the way we do things at this club.”
But, apart from this example of Spanish gamesmanship when opponents have committed a foul, Magilton is very pleased with Counago's return to the club.
“His vision and control for Tommy Miller's goal was superb,” said Magilton after Saturday's 2-1 home Coca-Cola Championship win over Preston North End.
“And Alan Lee's goal epitomised the player - it was a fine finish with his head on the ground after a fine move.”
Explaining why he dropped Alex Bruce to the bench, Magilton said: “I felt bringing in Fabian Wilnis would give us a bit more composure at the back.
“Alex has made one or two errors, and sometimes watching games can be a help.
“Our central defenders did well and Fabian is a very good footballer who I expect good things from.
“Our all-round play was good, despite a lot of travelling last week. There was plenty of quality.”
