GARY Johnson, the Bristol City manager, says that it is only a matter of time before Ipswich take someone to the cleaners away from home.
He said after his side's 2-0 Coca-Cola Championship win at Ashton Gate: “Any game now some team is going to get it at home from Ipswich.
“Thankfully it was not us.
“It was a major turnaround after our 6-0 defeat at Portman Road, and although we may have tried to hide it that hurt a lot.
“It showed in how the lads played last night.
“In the second half we tired, and I had to make some substitutions as the players had run themselves into the ground.”
Johnson was pleased to consolidate his team's position near the top of the table. He said: “The penalty was vital to us and so was our goalkeeper's triple save.
“When you play good teams like Ipswich you have to throw yourself at every shot and hope your keeper does a good job, which he did.
“Fair play to Ipswich they were humble in their 6-0 win and did not bang on dressing room doors. And we were the same last night.
“It was never going to be a 6-0 to us, and we had plenty of defending to do after winning the game in the opening half.”
Blues midfielder Owen Garvan confirmed he was pleased to be back in the side. The 19-year-old, who enjoyed an eye-catching last 35 minutes, was diplomatic when he said: “I want to play as every professional footballer does.
“But on the other hand it is healthy to have competition.
“I was happy to come back in, but at the end of day we lost and I am bitterly disappointed.
“We are in a shout for the play-offs, but have to improve our away displays and stop giving silly goals away.
“There were one or two chances for us in the second half, but the ball does not seem to run for us away from home.”
