More than 100 people were also evacuated after gas canisters were found in a garage attached to the blazing house in Diprose Drive, Oulton, near Lowestoft today.
A fire service spokesman said firefighters began tackling the blaze but pulled back when it spread to a garage containing a car, a van and acetylene cylinders.
Police officers set up a cordon and a total of 30 firefighters withdrew from the area surrounding the house.
