A HEADTEACHER is retiring from full-time work after 20 years at the helm of a popular primary school.Alan Shoote, headteacher of the Combs Ford Primary School in Stowmarket, now aims to spend more time fishing, enjoying his small boat and holidaying and will continue to work part-time in education in other roles.

A HEADTEACHER is retiring from full-time work after 20 years at the helm of a popular primary school.
Alan Shoote, headteacher of the Combs Ford Primary School in Stowmarket, now aims to spend more time fishing, enjoying his small boat and holidaying and will continue to work part-time in education in other roles.
Mr Shoote, who celebrates his 60th birthday next month and is married to Alison with three children, said: “I shall really miss the children, parents and staff.
“I am really proud of this school and I have put a lot of my life in to it. I have been very fortunate to have enjoyed coming to work. It's a good school and will continue to be so.”
He first started working within education in 1968, and had previously been a headteacher at Sproughton and Claydon primary schools near Ipswich.
Mr Shoote, who lives in the Coddenham area, finishes at the school today and his successor will be Russell Clark, currently a primary headteacher at Sudbury.
