The former Ipswich and England boss has been in hospital for more than a month since going under the surgeon's knife on August 23.
A spokeswoman for the 73-year-old said last night: “He is improving daily. We are happy with his progress.
“He has been allowed out for some afternoons as part of his recovery but there has been no date set for when he will be allowed home.”
Sir Bobby, who is being treated at a Newcastle hospital, recently suffered an adverse reaction to the operation to remove a grape-sized tumour.
He experienced a temporary loss of movement in his left leg and left arm and has been undergoing physiotherapy since.
Sir Bobby was initially taken ill during Ipswich Town's first home game of the season against Crystal Palace, on August 5 and has already battled cancer three times in the past.
In May, he had a golf-ball sized tumour removed from a lung, while in 1995 he underwent surgery after cancer was discovered behind his eye. Three years before that he survived bowel cancer.
