POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man carrying a handgun robbed a Woodbridge building society this afternoon.
POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at the Ipswich Building Society's premises in New Street, Woodbridge, this afternoon.
Initial reports suggest that a “white man with a tanned complexion” entered the offices at 1pm with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
No one was hurt in the incident, but an ambulance was called for a cashier in shock.
The man - described as white, with a tanned complexion, clean shaven, 30 to 40 years, around 6ft tall, wearing a yellow raincoat with a black woolly hat - was seen heading towards The Thoroughfare and police are appealing for any sightings of him.
