A GRIEVING family last night paid tributes to their “ray of sunshine” teenager who lost his life on an accident blackspot.

Justyn Barker, 18, died in a single vehicle accident close to his home in Glemsford, near Sudbury, just a day before his parents were due to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary with a family party.

Nick and Margaret Barker revealed their son had made them a special present to mark the occasion, but they still had no idea what it was after their son touchingly kept it a closely-guarded secret.

“This was typical of Justyn - there was never a day without him saying that he loved you and he was always hugging me or his dad,” Mrs Barker said.

“His death touched a lot of people - we had 60 to 70 people at the house on Saturday paying their respects.”

Mr Barker added: “He obviously had such a big effect on people and put more into his 18 years than I have in 50 years.

“He lived life to the full and every picture we have seen is of him laughing, he was just a bundle of fun and a 'make it happen' person.”

The teenager died at the scene of Friday night's accident after his Hyundai Coupe left the road and collided with a telegraph pole.

In a statement, his close-knit family said: “From the very day Justyn came into our lives, he has been a ray of sunshine.

“We have been so proud to have him as our son, and special younger brother to Alyshia and Chantelle.

“He was described by a friend as 'the template of our perfect son'.

“Justyn lived life to the full, providing laughter to everyone around him. Anyone who met Justyn warmed to him instantly - indicative of the fact that his friends ranged from school children to the elderly.”

His family described his passions as cars, friends and family and being one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The statement read: “He believed in God's promise in the Bible of a resurrection of dead loved ones on a paradise earth in the future. This knowledge makes the pain easier for us all to bear.

“We will miss his smile, infectious sense of humour and daily hugs and kisses.”

Educated in Glemsford, Clare and then Sudbury, Mr Barker then worked for his father's firm - Glemsford-based Hygieco - where staff paid tribute to a “highly regarded and much loved” colleague.

David Burton, sales director, said: “Many long serving members watched him blossom within the family business into a very capable and highly professional young man - be it in sales or in his current role within the operations department.

“His energy, humour and charm touched everyone - young and old like - and he will be sorely missed by his 'extended' family at Hygieco.”

His family said everyone who knew Mr Barker was invited to his funeral which will be held at The Kingdom Hall in Ipswich on May 12. Free coaches are available from Sudbury and more details are available from Liam Roberts, of Co-op Funeral Services, on 01787 372736.
