Crews from five Suffolk fire stations were called to a blaze in a barn at Friday Street in Brandeston, near Framlingham, late on Friday evening.
The fire was spotted shortly after 9.30pm and crews from Framlingham and Debenham were called. Because of the potential seriousness of the fire they called for support from Needham Market and Princes Street Fire Station in Ipswich.
A specialist unit from Woodbridge was called in to co-ordinate their efforts.
They were able to bring the fire under control within two hours and the last appliances were able to return to their base shortly before 1am on Saturday morning.
