A woman in her 20s was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Alderman Park, Ipswich, police have revealed this morning.

The woman, who had arranged to meet a man online, was raped during an attack in the park at approximately 3.40am today. The sexual assault was reported to police at around 4am.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, had been in contact with a man online and arranged to meet him in the park.

After meeting, the woman reports that the man grabbed her before then raping her. The offender then left the area.

The suspect is described as a mixed race man, around 5ft 8ins tall, in his late teens or early 20s, with dark hair, short beard and was wearing a dark coloured jacket.

A police cordon in part of Alderman Park remains in place at this time and officers remain on the scene.

Trained specialist officers and police staff continue to work with the victim whilst extensive enquiries are ongoing in the local area to identify the person responsible.
