A celebration marked one of the most important events in the Chinese calendar.
Ipswich mayor Jane Riley and councillor Collette Allen met 78 members of Suffolk’s Taoist Tai Chi society on Spetember 24 for the mid-autumn festival, the biggest celebration in the Chinese calendar after Chinese new year.
It is said that the moon is at its brightest during this holiday, signifying a time for family reunion.
Mrs Roley said: “I was very pleased to join members of the Taoist Tai Chi Society as they celebrated their autumn festival.
“It was interesting to hear about the work they do, and to meet their volunteers.”
Tai chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements and is now practised globally.
The gathering at Ipswich’s Golden Dragon restaurant was organised by the society’s volunteers.
