A pedestrian has been injured in a collision with a car outside Ipswich railway station.

Paramedics treated a person who was lying in the road at the junction of Ranelagh Road, Burrel Road and Princes Street bridge.

Police and ambulance crews were called just before 1.40pm, with major road closures now in place extending to Willoughby Hill, Ancaster Road and the whole of Princes Street bridge.

As of 3.15pm, police were beginning to reopen the roads around Ipswich station.

Nine police vehicles and two ambulances attended the scene, with the person treated by paramedics while members of the public held umbrellas to keep them dry.

Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance were deployed to assist the pediestrian and transported them to Addenbrooke’s hospital.

A large police cordon is in place around the scene.
