Community spirit certainly wasn’t in short supply when the residents of Whitton and their families came together to enjoy a day jam-packed full of fun in 1984.

Hundreds of people of all ages turned out for the event, with spirits lifted further by some gloriously warm weather, to enjoy an array of activities including martial arts, team games and inflatable fun.

Historically Whitton was a small village situated two and a half miles from Ipswich, but an electric tram service launched in 1903 improved its links with the town. Now, Whitton is a ward within the Ipswich borough.
