The new pop-up library for the Rushmere area of Ipswich has been opened at the Ransome’s Sports Pavilion on Sidegate Avenue.
Ipswich deputy major Roger Fern opened the Library @ The Pavilion with pupils and staff from nearby Sidegate Lane Primary school and other local residents who have been looking to bring services to that part of town.
It will be open every Wednesday between 1.30pm and 4.30pm and run by Suffolk Libraries after getting funding from the borough’s North East Area Committee and local councillor Sandra Gage from her locality budget.
There will also be a range of activities, including ‘singing and stories’ for pre-school children, a social group for older people and a homework club.
The sessions are part of the Suffolk Libraries Local scheme which gives people the chance to visit the service closer to their homes – either on their local estate or in their own village
