An Ipswich project which provides a creative outlet for children’s energy through music and radio shows has been given a £1,000 financial boost from Krissy and Friends.

The South Street Kids project, based at South Street Studios, allows youngsters to learn new media and music production skills to prepare fun radio packages, as well as give them a chance to socialise in a creative space.

The project has been supported by Suffolk Community Foundation, Community Action Suffolk and Awards for All Lottery funding, and is run by Ipswich Community Media’s outreach co-ordinator Cad Taylor.

She said: “I am bursting with pride because these kids are generous and genuine and celebrating the positivity of diversity.”

The scheme helps those who may not be able to afford extra curricular activities, and provides creative activity in one of the town’s most deprived areas.
