The trial of an Ipswich man accused of committing two robberies at stores in the town on consecutive days will take place at Norwich Crown Court next week.

Iain McCall’s trial was due to have been held at Ipswich Crown Court but has had to be moved because there isn’t a judge available to try the case next week.

McCall, 29, of Barnard Square, Ipswich, pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing to two offences of robbery – relating to alleged raids at a convenience store in Austin Street on October 29 and the Three Penny Convenience Store in Bridge Street on October 30 last year.

Yesterday (Monday) at a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court to change the venue of the trial, Judge David Goodin granted an application by prosecuting counsel, Daniel Taylor, that one of the prosecution witnesses should be allowed to give his evidence from Ipswich Crown Court via video link.
