More than 100 walkers took to the streets of Ipswich today to help the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

The second Ipswich Alzheimer’s and Dementia Walk began at midday, with 121 participants taking on the 10-mile route to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The charity walk started from the James Hehir Building on the town’s Waterfront and takes in some of the town’s historic sites.

The event has already raised more than £13,700, with more money expected over the coming days through t-shirt sales.

Jessica Baldry, event manager, said: “It is an outstanding turnout yet again. It’s very reassuring to see just how many people are supporting the fight against dementia.

The event was supported by a number of businesses in town and Ipswich deputy mayor Roger Fern addressed the walkers prior to the start.
